Wanted to start out with a wash of basic mountains. They were too green.

Darkened and fixed the background here as well as very rough outline of the female figure.

Worked a bit on the skin tone here. Wasn't really happy with how purple it turned out. You can see I started off using a dark brown for the hair but switched to black mid-head.

Tried to fix up the skin-tone a bit from the very purply color it had been. Not entirely sucessful nor completely sure how to proceed. Roughed in the whites of the eyes and vague lips.

Decided to rough in the tree today as still at a loss for what to do with the skin-tone, as well as the mountain path and another mid-layer mountain-side behind the figure. Worked on her eyes some more - tried to mute the brilliant color of them. Still too bright.

Just had to cut in the face on the right-hand side a bit. Noticed that her jaw is not correct, is actually more accurate in the picture of the first day I worked on the figure.
Next up - Fix the jaw, get the skin right, darken the tree and path.

Yeah I suck. I haven't worked on this in a few months. She needs eyebrows and structure and color and flowers in her hair. It'll come. Someday. Just not today.

Still very far from finished and very frustrated with her but I will be until I'm done. She is, as you might have noticed, more purple than she's ever been. That can be fixed. Also there is a hand that wasn't there before. Yeah don't know what I was thinking - my brain probably thought 'oh that'll be fun!' and I didn't think it through. Then I frantically spent the next four hours trying to make it work while trying to stop myself from running to the kitchen, grabbing a steak knife and shredding her to bits. See? Fun.
I think I'll try to make her look less smug and more... hmm... startled. After all she is being seduced, right? Oh yeah I haven't written the story yet. Go me. Hopefully will have a chance to work on her in a few days and it won't be, oh, eight months before I work on her again. We shall see. Still no eyebrows I tried but had to wipe them out. Not time yet.

Earlier in the day - when I'd hadn't gotten to the shoulders and neck yet. Just her face has been worked on here.
(Side note is that the background hasn't changed since the second sitting it's just the light I take the pictures in that changes the color. I try to correct but I just got a new monitor and still trying to figure out the color settings that are truest. I always try to take the pictures in indirect sunlight but I'm not always so lucky as to have such a thing in Washington.)

Okay so... I worked on her a bit more. Really much happier with her now. I have restored faith in myself. She's still purple and needs a lot of work but... yeah. Happy? Content? That's me for today.
(Side note: thinking about renaming her 'Girl with No Eyebrows')

So, if you can't tell, I worked on her hair and the tree. I didn't touch the skin or background. Just skin and tree. I'm happy with the direction the hair is going - it wasn't really working for me. It'd been starting to drive me almost as crazy as the eyebrows. And yes that is a crocus in her hair I just haven't finished it yet. It'll look better I promise. I used myself for reference this time. Took some pictures with crocus back in February I think it was for ideas for how to get the flowers in her hair. And no she won't have grey hair when she's finished. It'll be in the same blue/purple realm as the rest of the painting.
I'm pretty sure she's about 75% finished right now and I'm rather pleased. Still have to finish her neck, chest and arm; get those damned eyebrows, the and a bit more background work.

Finished working on her torso today. Gave her some eyelashes (no eyebrows though, blast). Softened the curls in her hair, going to finish them soon (no she won't look like a white-haired old lady). Fixed up the tree with some more branches and finished off the crocus. I want more flowers in her hair but I don't know if that's feasible. We shall see. Must work on her hand again it's still a little flat. And the eybrows, of course. But she truly is nearly complete now. Only taken, what, two years or so?
